A driver will pick you up from your Portland hotel before beginning the journey. Next, visit the Sage Center, an interactive visitor center focused on agriculture in the Northwest. You will have the opportunity to interact with current technology and learn about the process of getting food from the farm to the table.

Have lunch at the River Lodge and Grill before paying a visit to Madison Farms, a 160-acre dryland wheat homestead in 1914 to a diversified and very efficient, deficit-irrigated farm. There crops include soft white seed wheat, corn, seed corn, alfalfa, canola and potatoes. Finally, enjoy an optional tour to a windmill or take a tour of the farm including the new irrigation systems.

Come morning time, pay a visit to Mile Canyon Farms, a farm with over 51,000 acres, including 7,500 organic acres. In the afternoon, visit the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center. It brings to life the human stories and natural history of one of the nation’s most compelling landscapes.
