Chengdu is a city with strong tea culture. In the old days, lots of tea houses are scattered in the back streets and countryside. However, due to urbanization, these old tea houses are slowly disappearing and replaced by modern and fancier ones. Fortunately, one of the old tea houses located in Pengzhen survives and is well protected by local residents. This tour will take you to the tea house for a nostalgic experience as well as visiting Leshan Giant Buddha which was carved out of a cliff during the Tang Dynasty (618-907AD) facing the confluence of three rivers and is by far, the tallest Buddha statue in the world.

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 8:00am and drive about 40 minutes to a tea house in Pengzhen which is the suburb of Chengdu. Arriving in time for photo opportunities as most of the elders getting their daily dose of tea here from around 5:00am to 10:30am as daylight is favorable for photography.
After sampling a cup of tea and having a taste of real daily life of old Chengdu, you will move on to Leshan Giant Buddha. In about an hour and forty minutes, you will reach Leshan. Upon arrival, choose from hiking around the giant Buddha or catching a boat to have a full view the statue, or if you wish, do both as you will have plenty of time in Leshan. Lunch is at your own cost but your guide will give you ideas and suggestions.
You will be escorted back to your Chengdu hotel after exploring the giant Buddha site which generally takes about two and a half hours depending on city traffic condition. The tour will conclude at around 5:30pm.
