You will be picked up from your Datong hotel lobby at 8:00am by experienced English speaking private tour guide and drive to Deshengbu Fortress which is about 28 miles (45 km) northwest of Datong. You will spend an hour exploring the ancient garrison town near the Great Wall. It is recorded that along the 221 miles (335 km) stretch of Datong Outer Great Wall, there used to be 52 fortresses, and Deshengbu Fort is one of the ancient walled garrison towns that is the epitome of north China. Deshengbu Fort was built in 1574 on the south side of an important pass linking Datong to Inner Mongolia. Lunch is at your own cost but your guide will give you ideas and recommendations.

After Deshengbu Fort, continue to drive about 19 miles (30 km) and reach Datong Great Wall at Zhenchuankou. Zhenchuankou Great Wall is a one of the common types of Great Walls near Datong that was mostly made with tamped soil and planks layering over each other. Amazingly sturdy, it withstands winds and rains for more than 500 years. From here, you will be escorted to hike on or along the rammed earth wall to the east for 2 to 4 hours.

After the hike, you will be transferred back to your hotel around 5:00pm where this tour ends.
