Puerto Barillas is located in the largest coastal estuary in El Salvador, Bahia de Jiquilisco. In Puerto Barillas, you will be visiting Central America's largest cacao plantation and one of the last monkeys reserves. This is a very fun experience as it is one of the last places in the world where monkeys interact with the visitors.
You will be able to visit Central America's largest cacao plantation anytime between 7am and 11am. You will also visit the monkey sanctuary, a natural reserve where you can feel and hear the monkeys approaching as Miguel, an 82 year old man who became friend's with the monkeys, calls for them. Monkeys are fed bananas and are extremely friendly and funny.
You will be picked up from either Usulutan or El Salvador International Airport any time between 9am and 5pm. You will then be taken to your overnight accommodation, which is a tree house located in the jungle.
The next day you will be taken back to the same point of departure.
