Meet your small group in Old San Juan, where your 2-hour tour begins with a safety briefing from your informative guide. Put on your helmet and get familiar with operating your two-wheeled Segway. Once you’re ready to roll, set off along the streets of Old San Juan, a beautiful city dating back to 1513.
Bump along ancient cobblestone streets and admire well-preserved examples of Spanish colonial architecture. Pause throughout the tour to snap photos of some of the iconic
sights and hear engaging military and historical facts from your guide.
Spend about 15 minutes inside the grounds of Castillo San Felipe del Morro Fort, perched on a promontory overlooking the entrance to San Juan Bay, and one of the largest fortifications built in the Caribbean.
Visit a series of historical monuments, including La Rogativa, where you'll hear the inspiring tale of how a religious procession by the settlement’s inhabitants warded off British attack.
Pass by the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, the resting place for the remains of Juan Ponce De Leon, famous for his unsuccessful search for the Fountain of Youth. You’ll also see remnants of the walls of his house used as a defense against the indigenous Tainos.
See Isla de Cabras, or Goats Island, and hear about the WWII Battle of the Atlantic, when millions of cargo were sunk by U-boats. Learn fascinating military trivia about the Ballaja infantry barracks, the cannon battery of La Perla turned slaughterhouse, and check out the narrowest house in all of Old San Juan, which used to house guards.
In Darsenas Square, a plaza overlooking San Juan Bay, capture views of modern San Juan. Learn how various countries over the years vied for control of the bay, a key position for maritime defense, and see the remnants of the San Juan Gate.
As you make your way through the hilly and narrow streets, you’ll come across parts of the massive City Wall, or La Muralla, stretching a little more than 3 miles (5 km) long, 140 feet (43 meters) high and 40 feet (12 meters) thick in certain places.
