Meet your guide in central London in the morning. Then, hop aboard your air-conditioned coach for the 2.5-hour journey northeast to the St George’s Distillery in Roudham, Norfolk. England may not be as well known for its whisky as neighboring Scotland, but records show four important grain distilleries in the country dating as far back as the 19th century.
On arrival, enjoy a refreshing cup of tea or coffee then set off with your guide on a walking tour. Head through to the distillation plant where the large, copper stills are hard at work, and gain insight into how the whisky is made.
Admire rows of fine oak casks originally used to make bourbon in the US, where the English whisky sits slowly maturing. Enjoy the heady scents of wood and whisky blending on the air, and feel free to ask your guide any questions you may have.
At the end of your walking tour, head through to the tasting room and enjoy a 1-hour tasting session of whiskies from around the world. As you sip, take time to appreciate the delicate balances of flavor at play in your glass, from smoky and peaty through to fruity, spicy and floral.
Afterward, travel on to a local restaurant and tuck into a traditional English roast. Choose between two main course dishes and three desserts. Then, after your meal, travel back to London, where your tour concludes at the original start point.
