Meet your guide at Olaf Ryes Plass for your walk around the city's culinary haunts and hotspots. The city’s cuisine has a strong maritime theme and is now a foodie hotspot thanks to what’s known as New Nordic cuisine — food that revolves around nature, purity, freshness and simplicity.

Walk to some the city’s lesser-known areas and head for Mathallen, a covered market stuffed with food stands selling Norwegian and international produce. Start sampling dishes aplenty as you browse the stalls, including rich local cheese made by small-scale producers. Pause at the raw food specialist Bondens Butikk to try norwegian honey.

Next, enjoy further tastings of local foods, such as chocolate, strawberries or aquavitt sausages, and hear about the New Nordic cuisine concept and the Norwegians’ passion for their ancestral foodstuffs from your guide as you explore one of Oslo’s most prestigious areas. Here, visit Rorbua, a restaurant designed to resemble a Norwegian fishing hut. Treat your taste buds to an array of Norwegian specialties as your guide introduces you to the different, and sometimes challenging, titbits! If you wish, pair your tastings with some optional drinks from the bar (own expense).

After around four hours, finish your tour in a micro-brewery where you’ll sample three craft beers and look around its quaint production facility.
