Arrive at Rawson Square 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to complete registration. The race director will divide everyone who shows up into teams of 3 to 6 people. Receive a map with 40 points of interest, including monuments, churches, galleries, restaurants, bars and downtown shops. (Below is a list of some of the sites you can visit.) Get to know your team (if you didn’t come with one already) and come up with a rocking name to intimidate your competitors.
Make sure that one of your team members has a digital camera or camera-ready smartphone. Your team has 90 minutes to visit as many sites on the map as possible; you must answer a question or take up a challenge at each site to acquire points. You can hit the sites in any order, but your team must stay together at all times. Huddle up and devise a strategy. Any history buffs or shopping aficionados in your group? Work these factors into the itinerary plan, and abide by the additional rules:
Finish your scavenger hunt at Pompey Square, where all the teams’ scores will be tallied. If your team has secured the most points and paid heed to the rules, congratulations, swoop in and collect your prize.
