This 14-hour private day trip takes you to the historical town of Mysore, located 150km from Bangalore. Along with temples, palaces and markets, learn about the local villages and agriculture, and see bird sanctuaries, silk worm farms, and enjoy a local meal with the erstwhile royal family of Mysore.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Bangalore city at 7am. First, you will visit the Ramanagara silk cocoon market and will stop for some traditional South Indian/Karnataka coffee and a snack at the popular “Kamat Lokaruchi” restaurant (at own expense).
Continue on Mysore road – drive through toy town Channapatna where traditional Indian toys are made, and through Mandya – where sugarcane fields feed the sugar industry. Visit a traditional Indian village and observe lifestyles of the locals. After, enjoy lunch at a little restaurant by the river (at own expense).
Tour the historic town of “Shrirangapattana”, 20 km outside Mysore. The entire town is enclosed by the river Kaveri to form an island. Visit the revered “Sri Ranganthaswamy” temple built in the 9th. century and a major pilgrimage site in South India, along with other historical monuments.
If time allows, visit “Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary” on the bank of the river Kaveri. Take a boat tour and see marsh crocodiles, otters and Indian water birds.
Before 4pm, visit the main Mysore Palace including some areas that are not open to general public. Enjoy dinner at the home of erstwhile royal family of Mysore before heading back to your hotel in Bangalore, arriving at around 10 pm.
