Always in small groups with local guides.A confortable vehicle will pick you up in your hotel or in an agreed meeting point and will transport you to Hondarribia, a beautiful fishing village in the border with France.
The tour will take place in Jaizkibel mountain, the last mountain of the Pyrenees. Its particularly high (545 meters) for being so close to the sea. In the past it was an important location to watch over the Bay of Biscay and now it is the perfect place to enjoy the stunning views of the coast and nature. The sandy colourful rocks are the other main attraction of this mountain. Constantly being shaped by the wind and the water we could find rocks with a lot of strange forms and colours that where the inspiration of Victor Hugo, the famous French writer.
The tour starts on a gorgeous path that goes really near the seaside crossing some inlets and hidden small beaches where we could have a swim in sunny days. We will continue riding over some cliffs that fall into the sea and crossing small rivers that form ponds just before leading into the Cantabrian Sea . We will reach a grass field in the seaside where the native wild horses called "pottoka" are usually grazing. There we will do a little break to have a light lunch and take some photos.
After the break we will climb to the top where we will have the occasion to enjoy the marvellous views of the French coast and the Bay Of Biscay. In clear days the views from the top of this mountain cover from "Les Landes", recognized worldwide as one of the best European surfing spot, to Cape Machichaco, near Bilbao.
Once in top, we will ride down the hills of Jaizkibel through some of the best trails in this area. There are many different ways to go down, the trails will be carefully chosen to ensure maximum enjoyment depending on the mountain biking skills level of the group. We will pass close to military fortifications and other historic monuments and we will ride through paths that cross different kind of forests such us chestnut forests, eucalyptus forests or bamboo forests.
Finally we will reach the again the seaside where we could have a beer or a cold drink to celebrate this memorable day.
