Collection from all hotels early evening in preparation for the travel to Mt Sinai which is about 2.5 hours. Please ensure that you have some warm clothing with you as it can be chilly at certain times of the year. Any drinks or snacks that you can carry in you back pack are most welcome. Our guide will be on the transfer vehicle with you all the way to the base of the mountain. He will answer any questions that you have and will give you an insight into the history of the area. Once at the base of the mountain you are handed over to a Bedouin guide as Egyptian guides are not permitted to escort you to the top of the Mt.
The trek up the mountain path is taken at a steady pace, 2285 meters in total and plenty of time is allocated for this. For those of you that may get a little tired then there is an option of some camel assistance for a small charge. They will take you to within a few meters of the summit. There are plenty of areas on the way up to the summit for a break, sit and rest with the locals and have a chat and a cup of tea or rest stop. Once at the top, and it is all timed to make sure that you are there in plenty of time for the sunrise, make yourself comfortable and ensure that your camera is ready. When the sun comes up, it comes up very quickly and the sights around you are spectacular. You will have around 30 minutes at the top before your walk down to the monastery where a local breakfast will be waiting for you.
Then a short tour of about 45 minutes around the monastery and of course the Burning bush!!! The monastery and the Mt are steeped in history and it is well worth a little reading before your visit so as to ensure that you don't miss anything of interest. Our guide will then make sure that you are all on board the vehicle before making the transfer back to Sharm. This is probably the best time to catch a little sleep and your return to the hotel will be around 2pm.
