Your personal private guide will pick you up at your hotel and accompany to the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics. While travelling to the museum your guide will share with you a brief history of the Soviet Union’s technological achievements that enabled the country to succeed during WWII and eventually become a superpower.
After you arrive to the museum of Cosmonautics which is located at the base of an astounding Monument to the Conquerors of Space you will enter the museum accompanied by a separate professional guide. As you walk through the halls of the museum you will hear the incredible stories of Yuri Gagarin – the first man in space to the master minds behind the Soviet astronautics program – Sergei Korolev. Throughout the museum you will be able to see the beginnings of the space era while eventually learning about successful moon expeditions and learning about the solar system.
As the museum is filled with models of space ships and rockets you will gain a feeling of being a part of an incredible cosmonaut exploring our universe while our professional guide will answer any of your questions that might arise.
After visiting the museum you will accompanied to VDNKh – which literally translates to Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy. Constructed in 1935 it is a perfect demonstration of the Soviet architectural style and takes its visitor’s back to the times of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushev. As you walk around VDNKh you will also be shown the actual life size rocket and even a Buran Space Craft (similar to the U.S. Space Shuttle).
After this tour you will gain a better understanding of Soviet history with both the origins of the Cold War and certain actions of the Soviet government.
After the tour your guide will be happy to accompany back to your hotel or suggest a good place to eat or get souvenirs.
