At 9am, your guide will meet you at the lobby of Xi’an Bell Tower Hotel to set off for the tour. You will be escorted to take public transportation to the east gate of the ancient City Wall for a brilliant morning start with a stroll to the morning wet market, where the locals source their fresh supply of meat, fish, vegetables and fruits from the sellers they probably grew up with. You will also find various pantry items such as the cooking wine, spices, and soy sauce...etc. Each early morning, the noise of market goers make this historical city more vibrant.
Later, you will walk up to the top of the City Wall to observe the view of the city and take some spectacular photos of the busy market and a beautiful park opposite of it. Watch locals biking on the wide road way of the wall as a daily morning exercise routing.
Next, walking along the park at the foot of the city wall that is transformed into a huge playground every morning where a great number of local residents practice their taichi, singing, and dancing.
Then, continue to Zhongshan gate of the City Wall where a conglomerate of traditional Chinese architectures adorned with lanterns. Cruise along the Yongxingfang Street, a newly renovated area full of restaurants, tofu (bean curd) workshops, oil stalls and tea houses. You will find all of the famous Shaanxi dishes concentrated on Yongxingfang Street. There are also live handmade traditional folk arts and crafts demonstrations alongside the street such as sugar-coated figurine, sugar-glazed Chinese hawthorn, and dough figurine...etc. This is a perfect opportunity for you to sample authentic sweet or salty tofu pudding (Dou Hua and Dou Fu Nao respectively) at the tofu workshop.
There is also a largest Antique Market (Zhuque Antique Market) in Xi’an located opposite to Yongxingfang Street. The tour will conclude after you walk through the antique market. Your guide will help you hire a taxi or show you the direction to your hotel.
