Join this tour and you'll get a chance to feel and breathe the passion and thrill of Uruguayan Football. The first World Cup and glorious chapters of the world´s football history have been written in these lands, and we do not want you to miss them. Get to know Uruguay's unique passion for football by visiting the Estadio Centenario, Gran Parque Central (first World Cup game), Football Museum and the headquarters of Nacional and Peñarol.
The first place you'll visit is the “Gran Parque Central," Club Nacional de Football Stadium, where you enter through the principal stand, and admire all of the stadium's facilities. Wander through the halls of the stadium and admire the photographic material found hanging on the walls. Learn about the history of this stadium from a specialist who'll talk about Nacional, the Gran Parque Central and the first match of the World Cup of 1930. Hear about the ups and the downs of this club, including the story of the ex-football player that committed suicide inside the “Gran Parque Central”.
Afterwards, you'll have the unique chance to go inside the changing rooms, hearing more about Nacional´s present club players, idols, and the role of young players in the institution. Then, head over to the trophy room and see all the silverware before having some free time at the official store.
Later, you'll head to the Centenario Stadium and Football Museum, declared as the only “football historical monument” by FIFA. Inside the museum, you'll explore historical photos, journal files, old sports items, historical and recent trophies, and many other things of interest. In addition to touring the museum´s two floors, you can enter the “Olimpica” stand for free, where you can see the mythical field of the unique and precious Centenario Stadium.
Your last visit is to the Palacio Peñarol Museum, home of Club Atlético Peñarol. You'll visit the following Museum sectors: Sector associated with the beginnings of Peñarol (from 1891 to 1929 approximately), International Achievements Sector, The “Quinquenio” Sector, five-year continued champion (twice 1960s and 1990s) and Central Sector with Local Titles.
