Your 2.5-hour beer tasting tour kicks off in Milan’s lively Navigli district. Meet your guide near the Milano Porta Genova railway station. Then, gear up to learn about the evolution of Italian microbrewing as you start your tastings at Agharti Pub, known for its startling red walls, with samples of traditional Italian Theresianer lager and IPA.
Next, stroll along footbridges and over canals of this iconic Milanese neighborhood, glimpsing historic sights of Vicolo dei Lavandai and an alley dedicated to the working class washerwomen. Your walk continues along the Naviglio Grande canal, one of Milan’s largest post-medieval engineering projects, allowing development of commerce, transport and agriculture. The canal winds you to the dock Darsena with vantage points of red boats floating around like tub toys and gardens descending to the level of the water.
Quench your thirst once again at another favorite local pub, with a beloved wheat beer, while admiring the array of liter beer bottles covering the walls. Continue to a third pub, where you have the option of one of three kinds of beer to savor. Show off your sudsy Italian beer mustache, then head to the Cortile degli Artisti to see local paintings and sculptures among potted greenery.
Along the way, you’ll sample some traditional Italian panzerotto or fried fish at a local eatery and top it off with some delicious cheese and cold cut meat as you round out your day. Circle back to the Farmacia where your tour ends, and continue enjoying Milan on your own.
