From the breathtaking mountain views at the sunrise to a quiet beach time until sunset. You will be picked up from your hotel at 4:15am and transferred to Mount Merapi. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia that has erupted regularly since 1548. It is located approximately 28km (17 miles) north of the large Yogyakarta city. Smoke can be seen emerging from the mountaintop at least 300 days a year.
While driving there you will greet the dawn and enjoy a panoramic view. During your stops you will hear about volcanic nature, history of its eruptions and see a damaged house, as evidence of its destructive power.
At approximately 7am, you will proceed to the vertical cave, and on your way there stop by a traditional market. Upon arrival, an expert guide will brief you on the activity and safety measures. Then, you will start a 60m (200 feet) decline to explore the cave, before walking another 300m (984 feet) away to the second cave to see an underground river and a heaven light.
After the cave, you will be taken to the beach for a lunch and free time until sunset. Later, you will be taken back to your hotel upon tour completion.
