Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Rustic (L/D)
Depart from Ho Chi Minh City in the morning, head to Mekong Rustic in Cai Be, Tien Giang. After 2.5 hours on the road, you will reach Cai Be. You will be welcomed by the locals and invited to some Mekong specialty of fresh tropical fruits plucked from the local orchards.
Embark on a boat at Cai Be pier, and transfer to a home-stay on Tan Phong Island for check-in and relaxation time. Your host will introduce you the family members, the fruit gardens along with the daily activities. Next, you will have lunch with the family.
In the afternoon, your host will lead you to the gardens, introduce you many kinds of fruits and tell you how to take care for the orchards. You can pluck the fruits by yourself. Afterward, you will stop at Bonsai garden and learn how to make a bonsai tree.
Later, you will gather vegetables at the garden and prepare dinner with your host. Have dinner and stay overnight at the Mekong Rustic homestay.
Day 2: Mekong Rustic - Cai Be Centre (B/L/D)
Wake up in the early morning, have a light breakfast, then embark on a boat to visit Cai Be Floating Market. Buy some tropical fruits and talk to the sellers right on their boats, and get to know more about the trading life in the Mekong floating markets.
Following the visit to Cai Be floating market, you will so some cycling around Cai Be town. Your guide will lead you to the Cao Dai Temple Cai Be, the Cai Be Cathedral and help you explore more the religious life of the locals. Next, your stops will be the Ba Kiet ancient house and the handicraft workshop making biscuits and candies from fruits.
Returning to the boat and head to Tan Phong Island. Enjoying lunch at a Mekong Rustic restaurant.
The afternoon of the second day is spent cycling to the traditional handicraft workshops of handbags and rice paper, along with wooden tables and chairs. On schooldays, you will also have a chance to make friends with local pupils in a village school.
Come back to Mekong Rustic and take part in a cooking class. Dinner will be served then. Relax over night at Mekong Rustic homestay.
Day 3: Mekong Rustic - Ho Chi Minh City (B)
The morning of the third day, you can take a stroll around the home-stay and pay a visit to the fruit gardens, as well as to talk to the local people. You will also spend the morning visiting the Mekong canals in a hand-rowed boat. The small boat will lead you through the tiny canals of Mekong to reach the mysterious and hidden spots.
Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City at 14:30.
