Your driver will meet you at your hotel and head north to your first
stop. You will stop at a little town called Pueblito Paisa, a cozy
replicate of a typical Colombian village sitting in the center of the
city which allows you to share outstanding panoramic views of the
Medellin valley. There will be free time to walk around and take photos
or grab snacks. After a guided visit, your local guide will wait for you
to go on to the next stop downtown to visit barefoot park, the park of
lights and the infamous Fernando Botero Plaza where 23 amazing statues
of the most popular local artists reside.
Just let your guide know when you start to feel hungry so you can enjoy a tasty traditional lunch or dinner as per itinerary at one of the well-recognized local restaurants. Snacks and samples are included in price so feel free to request your guide at any time.
During the afternoon, you will learn about the rich history behind Tango in Medellín and gain a better understanding of this exciting dance and Gardel's input in Colombia. First stop takes place at Malaga Bar, one of the oldest tango bars which will allow you to understand how Tango pioneers first settled in our city. You can use bathrooms and/or purchase extra drinks while you make yourself comfortable and take pictures or ask questions to the guide.
The tour heads next to Gardel's favorite hangout just a few minutes north. A warm barrio where his statue was placed as a tribute and nowadays is home of the Gardelian house which displays some of his most significant contributions. Feel free to walk around and take photos or ask questions to your guide.
Finally, the tour heads back south towards the local airport where, in June 1935, the Tango king passed away after his plane crashed. Your guide will make sure and narrate the details of this fatal incident that has gained Medellín a well-known reputation for being the “second home of Tango”.
After a fantastic journey around the fascinating history of Tango in Medellín, you should be more familiar with this musical city, main Tango icons and gastronomy as your private driver/guide drives you back to your hotel or any other location you feel like.
