Enjoy a day exploring the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region, where you will enjoy wine tastings from some of the most popular cellar doors and local produce that the region is well known for.Leaving Adelaide, head out through the southern suburbs of Adelaide arriving into McLaren Vale for morning tea. Your first cellar door is Wirra Wirra Vineyards, located amongst the gum trees in the historic ironstone cellars. Enjoy a short tour of the cellars and tastings of the range of quality wines. Look out for the ‘catapult’ and the ¾ tonne Angelus Bell in the picturesque grounds surrounding the cellar door.
The next stop is Red Poles for a delicious 2-course lunch incorporating fresh, local produce. This unique restaurant, a favourite among locals, is a combination of a restaurant, art gallery and cellar door. If you have time, you may wish to try the ‘paddle’ of local beers or wines from a local winemaker (additional cost).
After lunch, continue your McLaren Vale experience by visiting d’Arenberg Cellar Door. Sample a range of wines in the historic Stables, whilst the experienced staff share the d'Arenberg winemaking philosophies and the history of the 4th generation family owned business.
The final stop for the day is Hardy’s Tintara, which is located on the main street of McLaren Vale. Choose to enjoy further wine tastings or stroll along the main street of this delightful town. Return to Adelaide via the seaside suburb of Glenelg where you will have the option to leave the tour or return to Adelaide.
