You’ll spend two hours hiking along the glacier with your expert guide, who’ll explain how the glacier has formed and shaped the landscape in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. You’ll be provided a helmet, walking stick and crampons for your shoes for easy exploration of the blue melt-water pools, ice formations and deep crevasses that make up this amazing natural wonder.
Your guide will take you to the glacier’s most spectacular sites. Plus, because the Matanuska Glacier is a weather hole, cold air from the glacier forces warm air upward toward the mountain peaks, so chances are you’ll be treated to sunny skies and favorable weather.
At midday, stop for a traditional Alaskan lunch at a scenic spot overlooking the glacier. At the end of your tour, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.
