Your can paddle down northern Michigan’s most exciting river as it flows through scenic red sand cliffs, strewn with waterfalls. Stop for lunch along the banks, swim in watering holes, and enjoy lunch provided by your guide.This local tour operators experienced guides will share their knowledge of the Manistee River, ranging from myths and legends to ecology and history. Just meet them at the Hodenpyl Dam trailhead and they will take it from there - including food, canoes, equipment, and more!
You will meet your local guide at the Hodenpyl Dam launch south of Mesick and about an hour outside of Manistee, Michigan. Our experienced guides will give you basic paddling instruction, then take you down the river in our durable aluminum canoes. We will pass several waterfalls, swimming holes, and a few fun minor rapids. Customization is a part of all Crystalaire guiding, and they will help you to plan a trip that fits your needs, interests, physical stamina, and the weather. Possibilities include:

Please be able to swim before electing to participate in this program!
