Jaipur is an ideal tourist destination with splendid fortresses, majestic palaces, tranquil temples and beautiful havelis. Along with royal buildings and palaces, the city also offers exquisite handcrafted and spectacular jewelry. These intricate works of art add life and color to this Pink City's uniqueness. As you begin this tour, a chauffeur-driven private car will pick you up from your hotel in Jaipur at 9:00 AM and you will be introduced to your guide for the day.
You will start by visiting Amber Fort. Here you will enjoy an elephant ride to the top of the palace. The elephants wear decorative, embellished headdresses, and will give you a chance to experience life as a royal of the Maharajas. Inside the Fort, you will visit the Hall of Victory or Jag Mandir and Sheesh Mahal - a room with all four walls and ceiling completely embedded with glittering mirror pieces, specially imported from Belgium during that period.
Next, you will visit the Galtaji Temple, one of the jewels of Jaipur. The temple complex encompasses natural fresh-water springs and 7 holy 'kunds', the water harvesting system. This magnificent temple is built from pink sandstone sitting on low hills and is structured to look more like a palace or 'haveli' than a traditional temple. The Galta Ji (Monkey Temple) sits amongst gorgeous landscape and lush green vegetation, and offers a fascinating view of the city of Jaipur. This temple is famous for the many tribes of monkeys that live in this area. The religious hymns and chants, combined with the natural setting, provide a peaceful ambiance for anyone who visits.
After Lunch at a local restaurant, you will continue your journey to Maharaja’s City Palace, the former Royal residence and now a museum. One of the most famous attractions in the museum is the armory museum, housing an impressive array of weaponry, including pistols, blunderbusses, flintlocks, swords, rifles and daggers.
Later, you will visit Jantar Mantar (Observatory), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the largest stone and marble-crafted observatory in the world, which holds 17 large instruments, with most of them still in working condition. During the tour you will also have a brief photography opportunity at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds.
In the afternoon, you will explore the local shopping centers throughout the city. There, you can find anything from gemstones, silver jewelry, paintings and blue pottery, to the hand-printed textiles that Jaipur is renowned for. After the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Jaipur.
