You are sure to experience the air of grandeur and mystery.Your trip to Machu Picchu will start early in the morning with a transfer from your hotel to Ollantaytambo train station. Pick up time will be communicated a day prior your tour.
A route of approximately 2-hours, from where you will take the train to Aguas Calientes, which takes approximately 1.5 hours. Here you board a coach for a 25-minute ride to Machu Picchu itself.
The Lost City of the Incas had lain abandoned for four centuries until American explorer Hiram Bingham happened upon it in 1911. Your guided tour will explain the origins behind this awe-inspiring citadel and the most prominent landmarks among the 200 or so buildings such as the monumental Main Square, The royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds.
You will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at the famous Cafe Inkaterra, a beautiful thatched-roof restaurant hemmed in between the railway and a mountain.
Return to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
