Make your own way to the departure jetty in Bandar Jissah just outside Muscat. Meet your friendly crew and board the SY Azzura, a magnificent 75-foot (23-meter) catamaran with a large open deck and giant net ‘trampolines’ that suspend you above the sea.
Make yourself at home on the comfortable deck. Measuring 1,184 square foot (110 square meters), and with a maximum of 30 guests allowed on board, it’s easy to find a private spot and for small children to enjoy plenty of space.
Admire the views as your catamaran sails into the Arabian Sea and glides south, passing rugged mountains and deserted bays. Cruise past the stunning Shabgri La hotel, and enjoy complimentary fresh fruit, juice and bottled water, or purchase coffee or drinks (own expense) from the onboard bar.
After around 40 minutes, arrive at Bandar Khayran, a cluster of gorgeous bays that boast exquisite corals and marine life.
Anchor near a reef and, after a safety briefing and instructions, don a facemask and hop in. Expect to see masses of colorful reef fish, and watch for parrot fish, triggerfish, rays and the beautiful green turtles that often feed in the area.
The calm, shallow bay is ideal for children to snorkel, while more experienced snorkelers can venture to a nearby sea cave or the beach to explore further.
Afterward, sail back to Bandar Jissah, perhaps blissing out on the trampoline as you bob over the waves.
Your tour ends when you leave the SY Azzura. If you’ve worked up an appetite, perhaps make your own way to the Courtyard Café restaurant in nearby Qantab where cruise guests enjoy a 10% discount on lunch.
