The Amador Causeway
You will commence this activity by driving to the “Amador”- a 6 kilometer man made peninsula that was made from the excavated material of the Panama canal. Originally built as the breakwater for the Pacific entrance into the Panama Canal, today it is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Its one of the best views in the city looking back on the Panama City skyline as well as the multitude of ships lining up to pass through the canal.
Ancon Hill
You will continue to the top of Ancon Hill where you will experience a birds' eye view in every direction over looking Panama City, the Pacific entrance to the canal, the Cinta Costera, and Las Americas bridge. There is also a significant history here from 1964 when political tensions between Panama and the USA Military.
Miraflores Visitor Center
You will then proceed to the Mira Flores locks of the Panama Canal where you will tour the visitor center, museum, gift shop and view an excellent movie presentation of Panama Canal history and construction. The Mira Flores lock is one of three lock centers that comprise the Panama Canal and is the most well known because of its proximity to Panama City on the Pacific side.
Pedro Miguel's Locks
Continuing on by driving to the 2nd lock center of the Panama Canal of Pedro Miguel. In this portion you will remain comfortable in the vehicle and pass by as you head towards the 3rd and final lock center on the Atlantic side.
Agua Clara Visitors Center & Lunch (optional)
Arriving to the Atlantic side, you will come to the new Agua Clara Visitor center for a vantage point of the Panama Canal from the Caribbean. This new tourism and historical hub that offers an impressive panoramic view of both the existing canal works with an up close view all the vessels traversing Lake Gatun, as well as the amazing expansion works that have been underway since 2007. Agua Clara also has 2 dining options: a coffee shop and full service restaurant with breath taking landscapes and views of the Atlantic resulting in an amazing experience you will remember for years to come.
You will be returned to your Panama City Hotel, or Central meeting point depending on your chosen tour option
