The tour gives you the unique opportunity to fully appreciate art, history and nature in a single day. During the morning we will visit the famous city of Lucca.
In the afternoon, the tour will continues to the heart of the stunning mountainous region of Garfagnana, the famous Devil’s Bridge and the Medieval Castle.The tour will start with the visit to Lucca, the town of Puccini. Visit the Cathedral and its famous miraculous wooden crucifix: “Holy face”.
Then head to St Michele church and Fillungo, the most important shopping street of the city, where our guide will tell you the secrets about the conspicuous Clock Tower and Guinigi Tower with its holm-oak growing out of the top. Do not miss the see the Amphitheatre square and the imposing tree-lined town walls.
From Lucca you will then head to Garfagnana, through green valleys, towers and chestnut trees. By the river Serchio you will have a stop at the medieval Devil’s Bridge. The tour will continue to the massive fortress, once used as seat for the headquarters of the Estense's administration in Garfagnana.
In Barga, we will stroll along the tiny streets and the picturesque squares of the village, which truly witness the medieval urban structure. There you will admire the well-designed structure of Palazzo Pretorio (magistrate's Palace), as well as the Loggia del Podestà and the Teatro.
Afterwards, we will climb on to the top of the hill to visit the elegant Cathedral, built between 9th and 12th century, that overlooks the valley from an height of more 400 metres before to return to Pisa.
