See the oldest residence in the city of Nashville, the legendary Ryman Auditorium, original home of the Grand Ole Opry, plus Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, America's most famous honky tonk. Time-travel to the days before Prohibition and stop at Nashville's Silver Dollar Saloon on Broadway, where drink, song, games of chance and ladies of the night ruled.
Cruise down Market Street through Butler's Run to Riverfront Park, where the hustle and bustle of Nashville's river trade made it the 2nd largest city west of the Appalachians. Amazing views of Tennessee Titans' Stadium, The Cumberland River and the original site of Fort Nashborough, where the Cherokee almost ended Music City before it got started. Head to Nashville Public Square and The Observation Deck, with a stunning view of the city skyline including the famous Batman Building. A few tales of Andrew Jackson and his more than 100 duels and we are off to Printers Alley and The Men's Quarter. The seedy and sometimes fun side of Nashville runs through this famous hot spot with Skull's Rainbow Room, one of Johnny Cash's favorite haunts, and Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar where Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix cut their Blues chops before becoming rock and roll superstars.
Continue onto Cherry Street (today 4th Avenue), whose infamy was so great "no modest woman" was said to have dared tread upon it. Through The Arcade we make a brief stop at Country Legend Chet Atkins' Statue before a short trek to The Capitol. One of the most stunning in the nation, the Tennessee State Capitol is a treasure trove of history and instrumental in the Union's defeat of Confederacy. Take a few photos on picturesque Legislative Plaza and stand before War Memorial, which demonstrates why Tennessee deserved the nickname "The Volunteer State." A brief tale of the critical role Nashville played in Women's Suffrage at The Hermitage Hotel and our tour ends with brief stops at Downtown Presbyterian Church, site of The Maxwell House, of coffee fame, and then we are back in honky tonk heaven between Tootsie's and The Ryman Auditorium, where many a country legend would sneak a drink or five before performing.
