Lisbon is not only full of charm, but also filled with narrow, steep streets that doesn’t make it easy to discover fully the potential of the city. That’s why we suggest simple, yet fun, tour in the city that can start by the downtown – Restauradores Square - and from that point we can explore the city from East to West.

The East area is the Old City, built around the Castle. The Cathedral is a must since it is the perfect place to show the growth of the city, it was built on a roman town, afterwards on the same place it became a Moorish Mosque and after the Christian conquest of the city, a church. After you will see the narrow streets of Alfama – the oldest and most typical neighborhood of the city – and Mouraria, the birthplace of Fado – Portuguese music genre, the locals are found of and it talks about love and longing - and all of its multicultural aspects (built originally after the Christians conquered Lisbon in the XII century) to confine the Moors that survived the Portuguese occupation.

Another must of the city is a 10 minutes stop by the highest viewpoint (called Nossa Senhora do Monte); from here you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the entire city. It’s perfect for our storytellers to explain the growth of city over the centuries and how some of it resisted the 1755 earthquake. After this stop we’ll take you to the “Hall of Fame of Portugal” which is the National Pantheon, a monument filled with history, it’s where we pay tribute to those who had an important role in the history of our country.

Going down to the river side, pass by Praça do Comércio, formerly the main entrance of the city, one of Europe’s largest & most beautiful squares. This is also the starting point of the West side of the city: The elegant quarter of Chiado, built in a unique way, after the 1755 earthquake and the 1988 fire, it gathers a way of life dedicated to the Belle Époque lifestyle; Carmo square, one of the most important squares during the Carnation Revolution when the dictatorship was over, on April 25th, 1974; the Bohemian Bairro Alto, the heart of nightlife; Estrela neighborhood with his Estrela church which is a perfect example of the Baroque style, and the park filled with exotic plants, trees and lakes, where children and adults can take a walk.

Then we will end our tour in Belém, known as the historic district of the Age of Discovery. It was from its waterfront that Vasco da Gama and other explorers departed for their voyages, events celebrated today by grand monuments and museums in the neighborhood like the Tower of Belem and Jeronimos Monastery (both World Heritage Sites). Here you will find the Lisbon's famous custard tarts, It's a sweet way to end this tour!
