See the heavy import and export traffic as well as the old quarter which is undergoing renovation. Next visit a sloth sanctuary focused on the care and rehabilitation of rescued sloths. You won’t get to touch or hold the sloths, for their safety and yours, but you will meet Buttercup, see the sloth nursery and take a guided canoe ride during your two hours at the sanctuary. During your canoe ride, see tropical lowland rainforest wildlife and plants.
Visit and tour a banana plantation and packing house. Learn many interesting facts about the crop, harvesting, processing, packing and exportation. Costa Rica is the second largest banana producer in the world and 80% of the plantations are here in the Limon province.
Take a 1-hour cruise down the Tortuguero Canals to see and learn about the rainforest eco-system. You might see howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, aquatic birds, bats and crocodiles.
