Rochani is a college student and Manju is a homemaker who makes sure every ingredient she uses is handpicked and every spice blend is mixed at home. Manju learned to cook family recipes that have been passed down from her grandmother, who cooked for the king of Nepal.
Step into the kitchen and learn to prepare a traditional Nepali meal. Together you will cook two to three dishes as they tell you about their family's culinary traditions, heritage and life growing up in Nepal. You will then share the meal you helped to prepare at the family table.
Your meal might include dishes such as woh (pan fried lentil patties), momos (dumplings), badam bhatmas sadheko (marinated peanuts and soy beans), kalo or pahelo daal bhaat (black or yellow lentils with rice), a sautéed greens dish, a traditional Nepali chicken curry, choyla (marinated red meat in a spiced onion and tomato gravy), a dried pea masala, vegetable trakari (mixed vegetable curry), mixed achar (Nepali pickled and spiced vegetables) followed by gajar ka halwa, a sweet carrot-based dessert as well as tea. Leave with new recipes, an amazing cultural perspective, and an unforgettable experience with great food in Nepal.
Please note, this is not a professional cooking class, rather this experience is a visit into an authentic, local home to meet a local person and share the culture and cuisine together.
