It's in the west side of Mutianyu Great Wall. The entire area is around 18 square kilometers. The name of Xiangshuihu means “Lake with Loud Noise”, but it does not really have a huge lake in this scenic area. People named it just because of the wellspring running sound here is very loud, which you can hear of it in a kilometer away. So don't stay in the airport by yourself, come and explore the beauty of Xiangshuihu Great Wall and its amazing surroundings.
Your private guide will hold a sign with your name welcoming you at the Beijing International Capital Airport upon your flight arrival. Then you will take your private vehicle to the Xiangshuihu Great Wall section, which is less crowded than other sessions of Great Wall. It will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there.
On the way to the Wall, you will make a stop at a village pastry shop, and you will be offered some free snacks and bottled water. If you wish to buy some more, it will be at your own expense. The shop opens from 8:00am to 8:00pm daily.
Upon arrival of the Xiangshuihu Great Wall, you will visit a local village nearby first. There is a Dragon King Temple there, which originally was built 800 hundreds years ago. However, the temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolutionary Period in 1960s' and rebuilt by a local farmer in year 2000 at his own cost. The farmer said that he had a dream and the Dragon King asked him to do this favor as the Dragon King wanted to have a place to stay. You will see a spring water well in front of the temple, and the Xiangshuighu Great Wall workers used the water here to mix with the soil to make the bricks for the Great Wall in the old time. As a visitor should also show your respect to the Dragon King before visiting the Great Wall.
After visiting the Dragon King Temple, you will change to a "Great Wall Safe" Jeep because it's much easier to get to the Great Wall. After 10 minutes Jeep ride, you will reach the foot of the Great Wall. You can hike from here for about 1 hours and 20 minutes as well as enjoy the beautiful surrounding.
Then, you will visit another village called "Zhuanghu" in English mean "Farmers' Family". This village seems a bit more modern and richer than other villages around. You will have opportunities to see sheep farming, fish farming, chicken farming and beehives.
The 3rd village for you to visit during this tour is right by an unrestored section of the Great Wall. You can have a local flavor lunch or supper at a farmers' home (at own expense) if you like. The the driver will take you back to the airport after your tour is finished.
