Kayaking at night is something that few people ever get to experience but this 3 hour evening Glow Worm Kayaking adventure is an amazing trip for people of any age or ability level. Kayaking up the beautiful Lake McLaren, Your small group enters into an amazing river canyon where the glow worms live. You then kayak back in the dark, guided by the stars and moon.You start this trip by meeting at the beautiful Lake McLaren. You are fitted into kayaks (single normally but doubles are available) and paddle around the lake to acquaint yourself to your Kayak and the surrounds. As the evening takes hold and becomes darker, you move up the lake and into a river system.
As it gets completely dark you will be guided into the secret location where the glow worms start to appear for the night. This is a very special spot with some of the best viewing in the entire country for seeing these amazing creatures. The evening finishes up by paddling back down the lake in pitch black. This is an almost spiritual experience on it's own and customers are often left speechless because of the views of the night sky.
You will be accompanied by experienced guide Tim Taylor, famous for kayaking around the whole of New Zealand recently as well as achieving a world record for sea kayaking. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
