Meet your guide in front of the large book statue in Plaza Murillo then walk to a local restaurant, admiring the colonial architecture around the plaza as you go. At your first destination, try a traditional potato soup, a popular dish that has been warming the Bolivian people for decades. Listen as your guide provides an overview of the ingredients and flavors of Bolivian cuisine.

Continue on foot to Camacho Market for a fresh fruit salad, selected from a range of colorful, organic fruits. Then have another type of sweet treat at a Bolivian chocolate factory. Sample different types of chocolate confections and learn how they are crafted from local cacao.

After your sweet tooth is satisfied, hop on public transportation to reach a restaurant that serves fresh fish from nearby Lake Titicaca. The fish dishes are accompanied by a famous potato stew for a quintessential Bolivian meal.

Next, follow your guide as you head towards downtown, walking through several marketplaces along the way. If you still have some appetite, try local nibbles and drinks such as api (a thick corn drink), the pork dish chicarron, and a puffed corn snack called pasankalla. Your local guide makes sure that you get to try the delicious Bolivian foods sold in the markets.

End your sampling of classic treats with a cup of the famous beverage known as sultana tea, brewed from lightly-toasted dried berries of the coffee plant, accompanied by cinnamon sticks. The sweet drink is also reputed to help digestion!

Wrap up your food tour by watching the sunset from a gorgeous viewpoint overlooking the city. After snapping photos, return to Plaza Murillo in the early evening where your food tour ends.

Please note: It is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing to keep warm in the cool evening hours. A small umbrella or rain poncho is also recommended as the weather is unpredictable in La Paz.
