See the beautiful Kuang Si falls 'another way'. In an atmospheric pavilion set aside rice fields, make your own traditional Lao snacks, for a picnic at Kuang Si. Also spend time at a sanctuary for rescued bears, and at at lovely riverside weaving centre - where you will learn about the importance of textiles to Lao culture.Today you will travel (pick-up from hotel at 8:30am) by private vehicle to a beautiful pavilion on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, set aside rice fields and a local village. Here, spend a short while creating a picnic lunch for your trip to Kuang Si Falls. Your patient instructor will tell you how to marinate, skewer, then grill a piece of tasty local chicken (vegetarian options available), as well as make a delicious mix of sticky rice, coconut milk and palm sugar (this takes time to cook, so you will pick it up on the way back from Kuang Si). Your grilled chicken (with sticky rice) makes for one of the most famous of all Lao meals. When cooked, depart for Kuang Si Falls (approximately 45 minutes drive), one of the most beautiful falls in Laos. Here, either swim in the turquoise pools, or relax amidst verdant jungle surrounds … and of course, dine on your picnic creations. On the way back to Luang Prabang, visit a sanctuary for rescued bears. Many of the bears at this sanctuary have been saved from the illegal wildlife trade or been placed here as a result of habitat degradation. Closer to town, also stop off at the tranquil setting of the Ock Pop Tok weaving centre. Here, have free time to learn about the importance of textiles to Lao culture. Back at your cooking venue, stop to pick-up your bamboo sticky rice, a great snack for your onward travels. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off, mid to late-afternoon
