Pair your makgeolli experience with traditional foods including Korean pancake, steamed pork belly, freshly made tofu and more.The first stop is a restaurant tucked away in a back alley of Insadong in a traditional hanok (Korean style house), and is one of the very few places to experience handmade makgeolli, brewed on site by the owner himself. This rare gem is not your usual tourist spot and will be your first introduction to the world of makgeolli. The guides who have studied both brewing and the Korean alcohol industry will give you an in-depth overview of what makgeolli is, while sampling some of the traditionally paired foods of Korean pancakes, spicy soups and a variety of side dishes.

The tour moves on a short walking distance away to a bar that boasts one of the best makgeolli selections in Seoul, and will show how it has evolved today. In a trendy, modern atmosphere, guides will hand select the brews from their extensive knowledge, and tell stories of breweries and the life behind the drinks. Here there will be a sampling of Korean-style 'anjou,' or bar food, in the form of steamed pork belly, which this bar is most famous for.

After experiencing the rustic past and the modern boutique-style of makgeolli, the tour moves to a bar just next door. Housed in an old hanok with stainless steel tables and large serving kettles, this bar is a main-stay of local Korean makgeolli lovers. As the final stop in the tour, this is the place to experience where locals go to relax and blow off steam by drinking makgeolli in the old style. The bar is also famous for its handmade tofu, made fresh daily and served warm with kimchi. Once you have had your fill, the tour will conclude at the same place as the departure.
