Experience Ketchikan from the unique perspective of a sea kayak on this small group 2.25-hour guided tour. Your friendly guide leads you to the historic Ketchikan Creek and across the Tongass Narrows, to explore the surrounding islands where bald eagles nest in the forest and colorful inter-tidal creatures inhabit the shore. No previous experience is required to enjoy this family-friendly adventure that departs from downtown Ketchikan, right next to the cruise ship dock. Your guide will meet you on the cruise ship dock in downtown Ketchikan and walk a short distance to the floating office where paddlers are outfitted with waterproof outerwear, spray skirts, life-jackets and dry bags for cameras. Your friendly guide will give a lesson in kayaking basics and help guests into stable double sea kayaks, some with center seats for children ages 6 – 8 to ride in.

When the tide allows, you'll head right into the historic Creek Street district: Ketchikan’s own salmon stream where the houses on stilts have changed little since the roaring twenties. Crossing the Tongass Narrows, catch a glimpse of life in an Alaskan fishing town: float planes fly overhead and fishing boats head out to sea. Once across, the island exploration begins! Follow your guide along the shores of Pennock and Gravina Islands. In true Alaskan style, the residents of these islands all commute to town by boat. Watch for the majestic bald eagles that nest in the old growth trees. Colorful inter-tidal life inhabits the rocky shores. The water is home to seals and sea lions and even humpback whales or orcas are occasionally spotted. Return to the dock rejuvenated and with enough time to explore the town of Ketchikan on foot.
