Then you will move to the real, 'ghost town’. Kayakoy is actually a town built on the place of the ancient Carmylessus in XVIII century. It had over 1000 houses, 14 chapels, two churches, 2 schools, forge and halfway house. After Turkish-Greek war, one time in the year of 1923 the history of Kayakoy ended. All Orthodox Greeks could only take what they could carry in their hands and they were all departed to the Greece leaving hundreds of empty buildings.
