The verdant green Willamette Valley is home to world-class vineyards, lush orchards and scenic pasturelands packed between the green hills of the coast and the towering Cascade Range to the west. Along the way, there are numerous opportunities to paddle, kayak, swim and float as you search for abundant wild-life.
Your kayak or paddle board tour starts with a choice of departures from your guide’s headquarters in Oregon City, just south of Portland. After outfitting you with a lifejacket, paddle, and appropriate kayak or board, you will head off through the swiftly flowing waters of the Willamette River through the class II and class III rapids that make up much of the route. While paddling through calmer stretches of water, your guide will fill you in on the pioneer history and local geology of the area. After roughly a mile of paddling, you will pass through the historic Willamette Falls Locks as you approach the roaring waterfalls which once marked the end of the Oregon Trail for the 19th century immigrants who came west in search of new lives. After spending some time enjoying the view and swimming around, you will exit the river for a short ride back to your starting point to return your equipment and continue on your way.
