Meet your guide at the Old Sugar Mill of Koloa on Kauai’s south shore, and learn about Hawaii’s largest industry at this National Historic Landmark. Then hop into the back of a Pinzgauer — a high-mobility, all-terrain, military utility vehicle — for the drive to the first jungle platform on the island’s longest zipline course.
At the ground school, you’re taught the basics of ziplining before leaping into the air along a roughly 3.5-hour course. Guides help with customized harness adjustments and instructions on using unique handlebar pulleys. You can soar in a traditional seated harness or upgrade to fly headfirst (see option below).
Enjoy the sights of the Waita Reservoir and watch the sunset as you take in the beauty of this natural setting where scenes from several movies were filmed, including Jurassic Park. You’ll travel through a variety of ecosystems across eight ziplines, measuring 250 to 2,500 feet (76 to 762 meters), and get a unique perspective when the canopy platforms are illuminated at night. You can use your lighted helmet and flashlight to help light the way in the dark.
Home to three of the five longest ziplines on Kauai, the course ends with an exhilarating half-mile-long (0.8-km) zip over open water.
Optional Upgrade:
Fly over the jungle like your favorite superhero in a specialized harness that allows you to glide headfirst. Before taking that first leap, you’ll learn heart-pumping aerobatics from your guide that allow you to go hands-free or upside down, and do maneuvers like the starfish and the spin.
