Have the complete scenery of the island of S. Miguel. Enjoy the hills of pasture and the views over lakes and the sea. Visit our local tea factory – Gorreana. Taste the mineral water and have a nice typical lunch – the traditional Cozido das Furnas – a meal cooked underground. In Furnas we have the biggest fumaroles and hot spring of the Azorean archipelago. After this, still time for a visit in the most beautiful garden of the island and enjoy a nice bath in the thermal pool of Terra Nostra Park. During your full day tour you will be heading towards the eastern end of São Miguel and the volcanic caldera of Furnas. En-route you will see different landscapes as we travel across different volcanic systems, old farming fields in Picos Region, visit the Salto do Cabrito waterfall and the view point at Castelo Branco, before arriving at Furnas Lake. Here you will see the fumarolic fields (bubbling mud pools and hot springs) which the area is famous for. Lunch is usually taken in a local restaurant and there’s an opportunity to sample the traditional dish "Cozido" which is prepared in the fumarolic fields by Furnas Lake. After lunch, there’s a visit to the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden where you can swim in a natural heated outdoor swimming pool. On the return journey back to Ponta Delgada, you’ll also visit to Gorreana tea factory.
