You will drive to the village of Abhaneri located 59 miles from Jaipur, towards the Jaipur-Agra highway. Abhaneri was founded by King Raja Chand, believed to be Raja Bhoja, ruler of the Gurjar kingdom in 9th century AD. Abhaneri is famous for 'baoris' (step wells), which were used for harvesting rain water during the summers.
You will admire the innovative constructions that helped to harvest rainwater at the Chand Baori, one of the most prominent of the step wells. Your guide will also enlighten you with the history behind this innovative architecture. This area also consisted of a royal residence with rooms for the king and queen, as well as a stage for performing arts. The Chand Baori is one of the oldest attractions in Rajasthan and ascends 13 stories high, connected by thousands of steps.
When the tour has finished, you will be driven back to Jaipur and dropped off at your hotel.
