Although the islands are parts of Istanbul, it is a great option to escape from hustle & bustle of the city at least even for one day.You simply deliver yourself to the enthusiasm of your guide to experience the other face of Istanbul. All of the islands are famous for their mild climates, lush vegetation and ornate Ottoman houses, and cars are strictly prohibited on all of them. That’s why, transportation can be provided by horse-drawn carriages which are known as phaetons and bikes on each of them.
1.5-hour journey by ferry will take you to a paradise which hosts the whole shades of green and blue. Our destination is Büyükada (Prinkipos in Greek) which is the largest of the isles of 9 but the ferry stops only at 3 of them until Büyükada. Horse-drawn carriages meet us at the park and we start a pleasant ride through the pine trees which makes us refresh. You can even ask for some spare time to visit Aya Yorgi -a monastery on the top of the hill- which is an impressive place to climb.
Lunch will be provided in a cozy local restaurant!
Free time for leisure will be fun to wander around the island. Water pipe/hookah (Nargile in Turkish) will be a good option to try with Turkish coffee while enjoying the atmosphere of the island.
Those who like cycling can hire a bike in their free time as well.
