Kangaroo Island’s maritime climate and the Estate’s north-facing slopes & friable soil provide near perfect, cool climate growing conditions. The ample sunshine is cooled by gentle breezes, which allows for a long, slow ripening period; perfect for creating great complexity of flavor in the grapes.
Grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Semillon are well suited to the terroir and have proven to produce premium, elegant style wines with great balance, natural acidity and long clean finishes. The wines are all vinified on site, with much of the equipment having come from France. This includes large concrete fermentation tanks and a traditional basket press.
The wines are aged in a rustic barrel cellar for up to 2 years in 630-litre French Oak barrels, before being bottled and released to the market. Try them firsthand on a 1-hour private tasting experience in the barrel room.
