Visit Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower, a tribute to John Lennon that symbolizes hope for peace around the world. Hop aboard your boat at Reykjavik Old Harbour, and cruise toward Videy Island with your guide. Roughly 20 minutes away from the buzz of Iceland’s capital, the island is a haven of tranquillity with unspoiled countryside, ancient ruins and the thought-provoking Imagine Peace Tower.

At the Videy Island port, put on your provided crampons and spotlight to help you ramble over the rugged terrain in the dark. Then, follow your guide and learn about the island and its intriguing beam of light as you walk. The feature was created by Yoko Ono to be a symbol of world peace and a memorial to her late husband John Lennon, and is essentially a geothermal light display projected onto a white stone monument.

Your time at the Imagine Peace Tower starts with a short video narration by Yoko Ono. With her thoughts fresh in your mind, gaze out toward Reykjavik, and admire the glow that the artwork casts over the city. If you wish, write your own message for peace in the world, and drop it into the well at the foot of the site.

When the time comes, warm yourself with a hot drink at a nearby cafe, and then return to the port with your guide. Board your boat, and cruise back to Reykjavik Old Harbour where your experience finishes.
