Are you looking for an exciting and active day in Ilulissat? Take the challenge of climbing the vertical ice! Holding your weight on crampons and swinging the ice tools, this is by far one of the wildest ways to enjoy Greenland. Nonetheless this activity has utmost safety standards and very experienced guides.Don't leave Greenland without doing the ice climbing! No technical requirements or experience are needed, we teach you everything you need to know and we provide all the equipment (helmet, harness, crampons, ice tools, rope, etc.) so you have nothing to worry about and everything to enjoy the moment.
The activity starts with a small briefing to understand the level and expectations of the group (3 clients maximum) and a walk in snow shoes to the ice wall (20 minutes). After learning the basic techniques (footwork, the swing, etc.) you will begin to climb the vertical ice. To maximize safety, you are always attached to the rope with the anchor over your position using the “top rope technique.”
