Come and discover the capital of the Moldavian region, in a cultural trip to the past. In your half day tour in one of the oldest cities in Romania you will discover the town’s unique style shaped by hundreds of years of history, culture and religious life.

At the beginning of the tour when you’ll meet with the travel guide you will admire the Palace of Culture, the symbol of Iasi, built in neogothic style which served as Administrative and Judicial Palace until 1955. Also we will enjoy a walk in the palace’s charming garden. Most of the main attractions are situated in the area of Stefan Cel Mare Boulevard, one of the most vivid places in town situated in the city center. Our walking tour includes two of the most representative religious images of Iasi: the Three Hierarchs Church and the Metropolitan Cathedral. On the same street we will find the Roznovanu Palace, built between 1830 and 1833, host to the city hall and the oldest theatre in the country, the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre. From the Union Square, a focal point in Iasi, we will pass to the chic promenade street Alexandru Lapusneanu and we’ll visit the Union Museum. Our last stop will be at Golia Monastery, a place that induces calm and serenity and offers a beautiful view of the city from its tower.

Tour highlights:
The Palace of Culture – built in Neogothic style is the effigy of the city of Iasi. The Palace of Culture in Iasi is the main attraction point of the Moldavian capital. This remarkable construction was inaugurated in 1929 by Ferdinand of Hohenzollern and it was built on the ruins of a medieval royal court, mentioned in a document from 1434. The whole palace is filled with ornamental details and heraldic elements outside.
Unfortunately, the consolidation and renovation works are not finished yet.

The Metropolitan Cathedral is the largest Orthodox Church in Romania built in the Italian Renaissance style. The inauguration took place on 23 April 1887 and at the ceremony King Carol I and Bishop Iosif Naniescu took park. The interior is also stunning with influences of the Italian neoclassicism to be noticed in the four biblical scenes.

The Three Hierarchs Church is a repository of the cultural and spiritual life of Moldavia and an architectonic jewel of the city. The value of worldwide singularity is given by the external decoration, an embroidery of rocks. The inside reflects the founder’s aspiration to the Byzantine world as it combines traditional structures and shapes with precious materials and a sumptuous decoration. The church’s decoration is a mixture of western Gothic, Renaissance and Oriental motifs.
