Meet your guide near Howth Pier and head off together. You will walk uphill and out of the village and get your bearings on the more rustic paths and trails. Pass through ancient woodland and discover the magical portal tomb and legendary gateway to the underworld that is Aideens Grave, as old as the pyramids. Explore in wonder the local jungle imported from Siam by Lord Howth long ago, and thriving still on the trails that only your guide knows. Hike out of the woodland to the south of the peninsula across the rare and precious heaths and heathers of Shielmartin hill and make your way to the beautiful cliff walk that your guide, a former coastguard, knows better than any man alive. After a short rest at Red Rock seek out a cave or two, tide permitting and get a sense of the exciting habitats below the waterline. Ascend gently along the world famous cliff paths to Baily Green and maybe enjoy a reviving little beer or soda at The Summit Inn (own expense). Descend down the disused tramlines by the steps and back through the heart of Howth village, returning to the harbour.
Please note: the tour may take alternative routes for different tides and weather
