Riding the Icelandic horse is something you have to do at least once during your visit. It connects you to Icelandic history and you will get to experience the most authentic travel method there is in Iceland. Lava tour is our most popular tour. It is ideal for beginners as well as experienced riders. During the tour you will ride in beautiful landscape  with the view of lava, lakes and mountains around you. The riding tour is 1 1/2 - 2 hours, duration with transfer is 4 hours. We offer Free pick up service from hotels and major guesthouses in Reykjavik. After the ride we offer you a relaxing coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Included Free Pick up service, riding helmets rubber boots, rain wear or warm outfit during the ride.Departure is daily at 10:00 and 14:00. Transfer from hotels and guesthouses starts at 09:00 and 13:00. Íshestar Stables are 15 minutes from Reykjavik in a small town called Hafnarfjörður. Our Stables are  outside of town surrounded by dramatic landscape and beautiful scenery. Our staff are friendly and our horses are amazing. We have multi lingual guides who will help you every step of the way from picking helmets to showing you how to put your horse on the unique gait Tölt. When arriving at our Stables we will show you an instruction video on how to ride the Icelandic horse, how to stop, turn and drive the horse. Maximum guests on tour is 20, you can choose from going on beginners tour, intermediate tour or for experienced rider. If you are not sure what difficulty level you would like to take, do not worry! In the beginning of the tour you will ride all together so our guide can evaluate your experience and you can see how comfortable you feel and then the guides split the tour after riding ability. Be sure you tell your guide if you have any preferences like going faster or slower.
