Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve is set in the heart of Zululand, where Africa's 'big five' (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros) roam the flourishing savanna. This tour includes a trip to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve and optional extras.The tour leaves from Durban at 6:30am for a 2 hours and 45 minutes drive to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, Africa's oldest game reserve. Upon arrival, you will enter the Nyalazi gate entrance and, for the next 6 hours, you will search for spots to have the best game viewing like giraffes, cheetahs, baboons, hippopotamus and zebras. Your safari includes a stop to Thiyeni or Bhejane Hide, where you will be able to see animals drinking water from a very close range. Stop for lunch (own expense) at a picnic area with bush toilets, or at Hilltop with toilet facilities.
You have the option to visit Isimangaliso (Greater St Lucia) Wetlands Park UNESCO site to have a 2 hour estuary boat ride, or visit Dumazulu Cultural Village to see the Zulu dancing performances and also taste the traditional Zulu beer, or visit the Emdoneni Wild Cat Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Center to see different species of wild cats. Every option is about 2 hours and only one can be done.
