Bucegi Mountains
Having a rather narrow surface, of only 300 sq. kilometers, Bucegi Mountains display a wide range of geographic units: ice valleys, spectacular quays carved in limestone, astounding walls made up of conglomerates, where the acrobatic climbing can be practised, sharp towers, airy slabs that allows the climbing of the walls through sites of an unparalleled picturesque, weird formations dueto the differential erosion, such as Babele, the famous Sphinx, and many others.
Piatra Craiului
The Piatra Craiului National Park covers an area od 4879 ha and stretches over the counties of Brasov and Arges, including areas belonging to the towns of Zarnesti, Moeciu (Magura and Pestera villages), Bran, Rucar and Dambovicioara. Bordered by glacial lakes, the Craiului Mountain ridge is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in the Carpathians. The oldest traces of human presence in the area of the Magura and Pestera villages date back to the Palaeolithic, judging from the silex tools discovered here.
Piatra Mare
The Piatra Mare Mountains is a small mountain range in Brașov County, south-east
of Brașov, Romania, and also close to the resort town of Predeal.
Geologically the Piatra Mare Mountains stand at the southern end of the grand arc of the Eastern
Carpathians and between the inner ring of the Inner Eastern Carpathians and the outer ring of the Outer
Eastern Carpathians. The neighbouring Postăvarul Massif is also positioned in the same transitional area.
